Sustaining physical vitality is affected by everything we eat, breath and drink. Cells metabolize the nutrients we ingest using oxygen to release the energy they contain. This process generates waste materials which must be removed. It takes energy to initiate the process of metabolizing nutrients, and it also takes energy to remove waste. So, when energy production (vitality) is compromised within our cells, it starts a downward spiral of declining health. Only by reclaiming vitality in our cells can we gain the energy necessary to reverse the process and regain our health.
This vital energy is produced in little "factories" inside each cell. These energy factories are called mitochondria. The mitochondria use a process called the Krebs cycle to extract energy from nutrients. Specific minerals, organic acids and other nutrients are needed to make this cycle operate. If stores of these nutrients are low, then our cells may be unable to extract energy from the nutrients in our foods. A lack of oxygen will also make it impossible for the Krebs cycle to release the stored energy in our food.
Waste buildup or pH imbalances call can also inhibit energy production in cells. Fortunately, there are ways of restoring cellular vitality and as we do so, this vitality will express itself in more energy and an increased sense of overall health and well-being.

Although I shall refer to the reason for ill health together with the conditions for treatment of disease on many occasions, perhaps it would be useful to summarize the causes for an oxygen deficiency in the body at this point since this seems to be the root of all body disorders.
1. Though acidity has long been recognized as a problem, perhaps one reason why ill health is so rampant is that most people do not bother to find an adequate explanation as to why this condition is detrimental to health.
Although it may sound complicated, the scientific answer is rather simple. An acid constitution means that the blood contains an excess of positive hydrogen ions (H + ) which use up the oxygen in a living body by combining with it to form an hydroxyl group. When an excess of (H + ) accumulates in the body, there is insufficient oxygen to consume them. As a consequence, the blood will acidify and an oxygen deficiency will be created. The problem of oxygen deficiency has also become a controversy in recent years. An acid constitution should be averted by all means. An acid constitution leads to an oxygen deficiency which results in various diseases, including cancer.
2. The intake of foods which contain an excess of unsaturated chemical compounds can be noted as another major cause of oxygen deficiency. Unsaturated compounds have a surplus of molecular "hands" which combine with oxygen in the body to produce oxonium compounds, thereby depleting the body's supply of oxygen. The chemical nature of substance is to move from an unsaturated state at which they can establish their existence. In this context, it is important for those who want to stay healthy to note that natural foods contain the fewest unsaturated compounds, while these compounds are conspicuously abundant in refined foods. In my mind, carcinogenic or cancer producing substances and unsaturated compounds with their excess of molecular "hands" to use up the available oxygen in the body are one and the same.
3. The other major cause of oxygen deficiency in the body, perhaps that to which we should pay the most attention, is the mind theory of Professor Hans Selye of the University of Montreal, Canada, is that not only humans but animals develop an unbalanced secretion of hormones, particularly adrenal hormones, if subjected to prolonged stress. An imbalance hormone secretion will also lead to acidification of the blood and thereby create a condition for oxygen deficiency which ultimately results in disease.
